Murcia property recovery gathering pace

It was only a few weeks ago that we shared reports that the Murcia region was bucking a trend of market stabilisation seen across Spain this year. Further data released by the Government last week and reported by Murcia Today has delved a little deeper into recent results, with some startling news on just how well the region is performing…

Overall, the country saw a year-on-year increase in property prices of 5.3% for the second quarter of 2019, which certainly sounds positive but represents the lowest rise since the final quarter of 2016. This strengthens the notion that the growth of the country’s market is slowing down, but it’s important to note the play that Spain’s region play in this due to the fact that the property bounce didn’t start in all regions simultaneously.

Madrid and Barcelona are two examples of this, with the former’s average property price rise registered as 6.5% (down from 9.7% in the previous quarter) and the latter’s 5.2% (down from 7.6% the previous month).

Murcia, however, has performed differently once again. The region’s 5.5% rise is biggest recorded since 2008, a start contrast from the numbers of 2012 and 2013 in which prices were dropping at a rate of 16%.

This is adding further support to the notion that Murcia is bucking the national trend of stability and is in rude health, which is certainly excellent news for the region and anyone looking to sell.
